You can add another one to your list. Clement Moore didn't write "T'was Night Before Christmas." Major Henry Livingston Jr. did, according to Don Foster, author of "Author Unknown." Moore was mistakenly attributed as the author 13 years after the poem was originally published anonymously in the Troy Sentinel. Moore, a curmudgeon, never denied writing the poem, and the jolly Major Livingston couldn't claim that he was the author because he had died before 1836.
